“Rejoice” is a joint collaboration for a commission. The idea was to blend mountains, hills, and the verse “Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice”. So Kerry got to work creating the lines of the mountains with a geometric pattern. He decided to get creative with the bottom hill and wove the verse into the pattern. I love how it turned out! I’ve been following along behind him with ink, detailing everything. I used a light blue watercolor wash for the mountains, pale yellow for the sky, and a light green for the hills. I think I’m going to do another pale yellow for the tree and then fill in the rest with the pale blue (those are the colors the customer requested). Inside the hill I’m going to calligraphy the verse and add my own style of drawing in the form of flowers (I’m currently putting flowers into everything I do).
A closer look at the hill and tree. If you look closely you can see the word “rejoice” up at the top (or maybe not, it took me a bit to figure it out and I knew what to look for:). We plan on finishing this piece this weekend and we’ll post Pt 2 next week (hopefully with better pictures. The colors and the location of our work space make getting decent pictures difficult).Details:
