The Bodacious Botanical Beauties

I was recently commissioned to design three greeting cards based on my “Be Brave” piece (you can commission something too by visiting my etsy shop or emailing me at wordsandwares@gmail.com, I’m fine with either). I had a lot of fun doing these and the calligraphy on “Grateful” is some of my best yet in terms of balance.

I wanted a flowy feel with this one so I avoided using dots.

I like the color composition on this one the best.

And this calligraphy is what I'm so impressed with. I'm in love with it at the moment.

All of them together.
All of them together. Aren’t they pretty?!?

Also, I’ve thought of going ahead and making cards with this design to sell in my etsy store (I retained the copyright for these). Any thoughts? Takers? Do people still use greeting cards? I used to correspond via snail mail with frequency but I simply do not have the time currently. Also my actual handwriting is incredibly hard to read. I’ll demonstrate how to write a letter for my kids and they’ll scrunch up their face, tilt their head, and tell me “but that’s not how it looks! Don’t you know how to write?!?” Anyways.

Materials used (affiliate links are included, I go through a lot of art supplies!):

Strathmore Mixed Media Paper (I go through tons of this stuff)

Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pens

Gold Paint Marker

Micron Pens

Dr%20Martins Bombay India Ink 1 Oz BlackDr. Martin’s India Ink (I haven’t tried other inks yet but I’m happy with this one)

And my calligraphy pen; I have a Speedball holder and I used a Speedball C3 nib.

Happy Tuesday!
