This project did not start out well.
I had the initial idea over Mother’s Day Weekend, which was just a bad weekend artistically. I was utterly convinced I had no more ideas, no talent, I might as well close up shop (yes, I was being overly dramatic). But one thing I’ve learned is to just keep going, to see how an idea might play out.

Originally I wanted a Celtic knot in the middle of the sun but it didn’t turn out at all, so I covered it all up.

Here I was mainly testing out the ideas I had in my head to see if they would actually work.

At this point I knew this project was a go and I got really excited about adding color.

After getting my color pattern set the hard part began. If you’ve ever colored in a zendoodle you’ll know what I’m talking about (or maybe not, if that’s what you love doing): there are so many little nooks and crannies that need to be filled in. I don’t NOT enjoy doing it, it just isn’t the most exciting bit.

Aaaand it’s done. It turned out better than I thought it would, good enough that Himself and I have commented that it’s our first “gallery” piece, which is exciting to think about. It’s 11×14″, so it’s not really big enough to be a focal piece, but I think it could definitely have it’s place in my future studio/gallery (which could happen next year, there is an amazing mall-type building with nothing but artist’s studios and galleries).
I plan on making prints of this piece and putting those up for sale, both here in The Wordsremember Shop and possibly over in my Etsy shop as well. We found a local shop that does artistic printing and I want to see if their product is as good (or maybe better!) than the Giclee prints I ordered of The Azmayan. If you are interested in a print email me at wordsandwares@gmail.com (and that goes for any of my works).
I used a mix of Micron pens, Faber-Castell, and acrylic liquid paints (see list below, affiliate links are included, I buy a lot of art products).
