So now that most of my big purchases are made, I want to start thinking about making some sort of actual revenue. It won’t happen this year, I’ve spent too much, but perhaps next year. To that end, I’ve been trying to streamline what I do: I’ve got my etsy shop, my amazon handmade shop (as long as there’s no monthly fee), and then the art fairs. I also reopened my zazzle store, but it took having thousands of items up to start making sales so I’m not even counting that one right now. Basically I’m only paying for the art fairs and etsy, and I want to get those numbers under a certain other number so I can possibly start paying for it out of my earnings. If that makes sense.
Etsy
Let’s say 10-15 sales and $100-200 in revenue. From what I can tell, art is over-saturated but people still seem to be buying coloring pages, digital art, and my other offerings such as bookmarks and journals, so I’ll be concentrating on that this month.
Blog
You know, I just want to keep to a regular pace. Now that we’ve got a week of our new school schedule under our belt, I’ve worked out that I have maybe 20-24 hours in a week to work on my business. I’m not sure I’ll be able to throw out amazingly beautiful posts, but I can do good ones;)
Art Fairs/Shows
I submitted an entry to a local show with this piece:
I’m still waiting to hear back. I also submitted my entry form for the Affordable Arts show, which starts in November. Also waiting to hear back. I was accepted into the Fall Fair, which is very exciting. So I’m mentally preparing for all of that.
Amazon
I’ve had two St. Catherine prints sell this month from Amazon. It seems like that’s the only thing the shoppers over there are interested in, but hey, I’ll take it. I’m still trying to catch up and make sure all of the physical items that I can list are listed.
Commissions
I would accept any, but I have no leads, so that’s ok. I think I’ll have a few closer to Christmas.
Misc.
My goal is to separate my business from our family life. I’m a workaholic, and I love what I do, so it’s incredibly hard to put it down. But we’re settling into a dependable rhythm, and I do need to have a cut-off time so we can accomplish everything we want to do.
So what are your goals? I’d love to hear!
And Art On, my friends:)
